چکیده

Random walk theory is applied to the motion of electrons in the early stage of breakdown of helium in an electric field. Details of inelastic and elastic interactions are based on integral and differential cross section data. The concept of mean free time is extended to include the effect of acceleration between collisions due to the electric field. The relaxation of electron energy distributions from initial delta functions to steady terminal distriubtions is studied. Relaxation time determined by the random walk is shown to be closely approximated by a simple energy exchange relation between electrons and the electric field. Drift velocity and the first Townsend ionization coefficient are determined and compared with experimental results. Various simplifying assumptions which have been used in analytical studies are appraised by use of the random walk procedure.

Random Walk Theory Applied to Electron Avalanche Formation

Use of microscopic detail in random walk theory describing the initial formations of a large number of avalanches show that concomitant electron transport coefficients quickly relax to equi librium values. This enables the use of random walks having step sizes and probabilities based only on local electric field strengths and densities. A self-consistent avalanche solution which accounts for c...

A PRELUDE TO THE THEORY OF RANDOM WALKS IN RANDOM ENVIRONMENTS

A random walk on a lattice is one of the most fundamental models in probability theory. When the random walk is inhomogenous and its inhomogeniety comes from an ergodic stationary process, the walk is called a random walk in a random environment (RWRE). The basic questions such as the law of large numbers (LLN), the central limit theorem (CLT), and the large deviation principle (LDP) are ...

Time-Dependent Thermo-Electro-Mechanical Creep Behavior of Radially Polarized FGPM Rotating Cylinder

Time-dependent creep analysis is crucial for the performance and reliability of piezoactuators used for high-precision positioning and load-bearing applications. In this study history of stresses, deformations and electric potential of hollow rotating cylinders made of functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM), e.g., PZT_7A have been investigated using Mendelson’s method of successive e...

Size-dependent Vibration and Instability of Magneto-electro-elastic Nano-scale Pipes Containing an Internal Flow with Slip Boundary Condition

Size-dependent vibrational and instability behavior of fluid-conveying magneto-electro-elastic (MEE) tubular nano-beam subjected to magneto-electric potential and thermal field has been analyzed in this study. Considering the fluid-conveying nanotube as an Euler-Bernoulli beam, fluid-structure interaction (FSI) equations are derived by using non-classical constitutive relations for MEE material...
